Since moving to New York in 2017, Joshua is already establishing himself as a sought-after guitarist in the jazz scene. A member of a number of working NYC bands including Dandy Wellington and His Band, Cait and the Critters, Hot Club of Flatbush, Brooklyn Caravan, etc., Joshua regularly performs throughout the city and at some of New York’s preeminent venues and events.

Joshua was awarded an Australian Fulbright Scholarship in 2014 to fund a Masters in Jazz Studies at William Paterson University. During this time he studied with Bill Charlap, Gene Bertoncini, Julian Lage, Matt Munisteri, Armen Donelian, and performed at various venues in New Jersey and New York, including Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in 2015 and 2017 alongside Bill Charlap.

Joshua grew up in Tasmania, Australia, graduating from the University of Tasmania with First Class Honours in 2012. Since then he has had a varied performance and teaching career moving between Tasmania and New York. Joshua was the recipient of a 2013 ArtStart grant from the Australia Council for the Arts, and also received funding from Arts Tasmania to support his emerging artistic career.

In 2018, Joshua continues to reside in New York, working most nights in any one of a variety of venues and bands. He is in the production stage of an EP of his own trio for release in mid-2018, and currently planning a Winter Australian tour for a project with longtime mentor and musical peer, Danny Healy.
